1. Who we are

This website is operated by Bright Talks (“we,” “us,” “our”). This policy covers this marketing website. When courses open, purchases and course access will be handled on a separate platform, which will have its own privacy terms that we will link to at that time.

2. What we collect

Information you give us

When you join our waitlist, we collect:

  • Your email address
  • Your agreement to receive updates from us
  • Which page you signed up from (for example, the home page or the pricing page)

If you email us, we will also have your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, some technical information is collected automatically when you visit:

  • Server logs. Our website host, GitHub Pages, may record basic technical details such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and to keep the site running.
  • Web fonts. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google’s servers and shares your IP address with Google.
  • Your cookie choice. We store one small cookie to remember whether you accepted or declined cookies (see Cookies).

We do not currently use analytics, advertising or social media tracking tools on this website.

3. How we use your information

  • To let you know when Bright Talks courses open and to share early-access news
  • To send occasional updates and resources you agreed to receive
  • To answer your questions if you contact us
  • To keep the website secure and working properly
  • To meet legal obligations

We will never sell your personal information.

4. Cookies

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. Right now, this website uses only the one cookie it needs to remember your cookie preference:

Cookie Purpose Type Lasts
bright_talks_cookie_consent Remembers whether you accepted or declined cookies so we don’t ask again on every visit Essential 1 year

If we add analytics or other non-essential cookies in the future, we will update this table and only set them if you choose “Accept.”

Managing cookies. You can delete or block cookies at any time in your browser settings. To be asked about cookies again on this site, clear cookies for this website and reload the page.

5. Who we share it with

We share information only with trusted service providers who help us run Bright Talks, and only as needed for them to do that work:

  • Email service: the email marketing provider that stores our waitlist and sends our emails
  • Website hosting: GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc.)
  • Fonts: Google Fonts (Google LLC)

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of Bright Talks, our users or others. If Bright Talks is ever sold or merged with another organization, your information may be transferred as part of that, and this policy would continue to apply.

Some of these providers are based in the United States, so your information may be processed there.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. If you unsubscribe, we may keep a record of your email address only so we can make sure we don’t email you again.

7. Your choices and rights

  • Unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email we send.
  • Ask what information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing hello@brighttalks.com.

Depending on where you live (for example, California, the European Union or the United Kingdom), you may have additional rights, such as the right to access, correct, delete or move your data, or to object to how we use it. We honor these requests wherever they apply. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Where privacy laws require a legal basis for using your information, we rely on your consent for waitlist emails (which you can withdraw at any time) and on our legitimate interest in keeping the website secure and running.

8. Children’s privacy

Bright Talks is designed for parents and caregivers. Our waitlist is for adults 18 and older, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

This website is served over a secure (HTTPS) connection, and we choose service providers that take data protection seriously. No method of sending or storing information online is completely secure, but we work to protect the information you share with us.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Bright Talks grows, for example when courses open. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will let waitlist members know by email.
